SCHOOL NEWS

This Wednesday is the last late start day. School will begin at 10:00.

The Highland Christian School Annual Society Meeting is this evening, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym.  On the agenda will be the approval of four school board members: Holly Haitsma, Serita Jackson, John Piersma, and Howie Ridder and the approval of the 2023/2024 Budget and the Constitutional Change.  The Society Meeting Agenda is available at www.highlandchristian.org and printed copies of the agenda and absentee ballots are available in the school office.

The 2022-2023 yearbooks have arrived!  They are for sale for $18 (cash or check).  Order forms are being sent home with all the students today.  If you would like to order a yearbook, please send the order form and money to the office.  We have a limited supply of yearbooks, so they are first come, first served.  Get them before they are gone!

This Friday is Impact Day at HCS!  As our students and faculty serve at HCS and in the community, we pray that the love of Christ will be seen in us!

Please join us for a retirement open house to celebrate Shirleen Brown’s 45 years of service to Highland Christian School: Saturday, May 20 from 1-4 p.m. in the HCS gym, light refreshments will be served. In lieu of gifts please consider making a donation to Highland Christian for a gaga ball pit, outdoor Buddy Bench and other playground improvements.

Homemade vanilla is for sale in the office – $2.00 for an 8 oz. bottle. If you have any empty 8, 10, or 12 oz. glass bottles, please send them to the office so more vanilla can be made. Thanks!

Last year HCS honored and thanked the Highland Police Dept. for their service. This year we would like to thank the Lansing Police Dept. for all they do to keep us safe. We will be collecting money to purchase something they need at the station. Monetary gifts will be collected in your child’s classroom until Friday, May 12.

ART NEWS

The Art Department is still in need of grocery bags with handles to send home the students art projects. Thanks to everyone who has already donated some!

LIBRARY NEWS

It is nearing the end of the year and it is time to clear all the library records.  Please remind your students to hand in all library books and to pay off all fines that may be outstanding.  Any help you can give to this matter is greatly appreciated.
