SCHOOL NEWS
Reminder: This Wednesday, Nov. 15 is a late start day. School will begin at 10:00.
The Thanksgiving season gives us the opportunity to show our thankfulness to God by sharing with others in need. For Thanksgiving this year, we will be collecting food and toiletries for Roseland Christian Ministries in Roseland, IL. These gifts will be presented at our Thanksgiving chapel on Wed., Nov. 22. All donations will be collected in the students’ classrooms.
Items needed:
box of stuffing can of corn toothpaste
cranberry sauce canned sweet potatoes soap
2 boxes of mac and cheese box of mashed potatoes deodorant
can of gravy cake or brownie mix shampoo
can of green beans tissues
Wow! Thank you for all of your support for snack day. The 8th grade students are working very hard behind the scenes and making sure that everything is available on Wednesdays. We will not have snack day on Wednesday, November 22 or Wednesday, December 20 as these days will be busy for everyone. Any donations would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
SATURDAY SERVE
With a strong desire to serve our community and instill a heart for others, HCS is leading an initiative where a ‘Family Service Opportunity’ will be available once a month – named ‘Saturday Serve’.
Our third Saturday Serve is Saturday, November 18 at Highland Christian from 9am – 11am. We will be meeting in the HCS parking lot and splitting into groups to go out into our neighboring community and rake and blow leaves! We are asking that you bring any backpack blowers and rakes you may have!
Parents, students, staff, and community members are being invited to help our community shine for Christ! If you are able to participate, please complete the following form. See you on the 18th!
Additionally, future Saturday Serves will be on December 9 at Silver Birch Retirement Home in Hammond and
January 20 at etc…Thrift Store in Schererville.

Guidelines for Sporting Events:
- Kindergarten through 5th grade students are not able to attend home basketball games without a parent/guardian at school with them. Any K-5 without a parent or guardian will be sent to Aftercare and will be billed accordingly.
- Junior High students are able to attend the basketball games. They are strongly encouraged to cheer on our teams and not just come to be on their phone or Macbook. Macbooks will not be allowed in the bleachers and should be kept safely in their backpack. Any Macbooks that are out during the games will be taken and will be given to a parent/guardian when they come to pick their child up.
- Those junior high students who do not have parents in attendance….
- If your son or daughter is not in the gym during the games and hanging out in the hallway or being disruptive, a phone call will be made for them to be picked up.
- Please make sure to have your son or daughter picked up before the end of the last game.
- Garbage – We love the amount of options that our concession stand offers to the fans that attend games at HCS. If all of us could take responsibility for the cleanliness of our school after each game (even serving the other school by cleaning up any garbage left on their side) that would really bless our cleaning crew. If each person picked up 3 things before they left it would make a huge difference!
Thank you for your cooperation with these guidelines for our home athletic games.
