SCHOOL NEWS

Student pictures were sent home with the students last week. Picture Retake Day is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 31.  If your children need retakes, please send the original pictures back with them on that day. Interstate Studio will not replace the original pictures if they are not returned. If your children were absent on the original picture day, you will need to place your order at https://inter-state.com/Order using order code 79528JF.

Reminder:  There is no late start this Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are this Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 1 & 2. If you cannot make the time that you scheduled for your child’s conference, please contact your child’s teacher. If you haven’t signed up for conferences, your child’s teacher will be contacting you.  The online sign-up has been closed – you will no longer be able to sign up your child yourself.  Students in grades 3-8 should attend the conference with their parents. There will be notecards by all the classrooms for you to write a little note to your child. If you would like to touch base with any of the specials teachers, they will be available each evening and would love to meet with you.

Important Reminder:  School will dismiss this Thursday at 1:45 and there is no school on Friday.  There will be aftercare this Thursday.

This Thursday at 1:20 p.m., we will be dedicating our 2nd gaga ball pit in honor of Mrs. Brown’s 45 years of teaching. If you would like to join us, please come to the playground at 1:15 this Thursday.

Saturday Serve: We had another fun and successful Saturday Serve this past weekend!  35 of us spent the morning shopping, purchasing and filling Blessing Boxes/Food Pantries in and around our local area.  What a blessing it is to be in service together.  Stay tuned for our next opportunity in November!

Highland Christian School’s Application Portal is now open for 2024-2025!  If you have a younger child who will be starting at Highland Christian School next year, apply now!  As we do anticipate full enrollment, we encourage you to apply early!  Seats are being held for all currently enrolled students.  Re-enrollment will open in February after the budget is set.  In the mean-time, you can register for Preschool, sign up for Kindergarten Readiness, and start sibling applications online today!

HCS has a special opportunity to “Build on the Foundation” by donating biblical and devotion books to Susan Perez’s Harvest Festival.  Mrs. Perez holds an annual Harvest Festival on October 31st where prayers and food are shared and biblical books are given to all those attending.  Mrs. Perez has been sharing God’s goodness and grace for many years and HCS began partnering with her last year.  If you would like to join her in “Building Upon the Foundation” bring your gently used bibles, devotionals and children bible stories to the HCS library until October 30th.

Homemade vanilla is for sale in the office – $2.00 for an 8oz bottle. If you have any empty 8, 10, or 12oz glass bottles, please send them to the office so more vanilla can be made. Thanks!

529 INFORMATIONAL NIGHT

With new Indiana and federal legislation, there are some AMAZING opportunities to save for Christian education (K-12) and college expenses. PTO NEWS

Reminder that this Thursday is restaurant night at Culver’s in Highland. This event runs from 3-8pm and all you have to do is mention HCS PTO when ordering and Culver’s will donate 20% of your purchase to HCS PTO! Thank you for your continued support!

Bingo Night for 3-5th grade students and their families is next week Friday from 6:30-8pm. More information will be sent home with students this week. We look forward to a fun night of bingo, popcorn, and prizes!!

TRIP NEWS

Retailer Updates:  Dairy Queen increased to 5.5%, Kohl’s increased to 6%, Michael’s increased to 5%, Pottery Barn decreased to 5%, Lou Malnati’s Pizza denomination now only comes in $25, Qdoba Mexican Grill physical cards are no longer available but escrip cards are available.

TRIP orders (paper and online) are due this week Thurs., Nov. 2nd.  TRIP will be accepting physical gift card orders on Nov. 9, 16, no orders due week of Thanksgiving, 30, Dec. 7 and 14.

Team C (Jamie Vander Meyden, Janell Eriks, Annie Bouquet, Kelli Long) will be putting the TRIP orders together on Tues., Oct. 31st. Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office on Tues. by 2:45 p.m.

 COMMUNITY NEWS

New Life CRC (3010 Ridge Road, Highland, IN) will be hosting Trunk or Treat tomorrow from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the church parking lot.  We will have decorated cars with trunks of candy & treats along with a refreshment table!  Don’t forget to wear your costumes!  Please contact (219) 838-0506 for more information.  We hope to see you there!

Illiana Christian Auction: The Illiana Christian Auction Committee is excited to announce our 9th
annual auction on Saturday, November 11. The silent auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the live
auction at 5:30 p.m.  Proceeds from this auction will support the Athletic Department and
