SCHOOL NEWS

Student pictures are being sent home with the students this week. Picture Retake Day is scheduled for next Tuesday, Oct. 31.  If your children need retakes, please send the original pictures back with them on that day. Interstate Studio will not replace the original pictures if they are not returned. If your children were absent on the original picture day, you will need to place your order at https://inter-state.com/Order using order code 79528JF.

Parent/Teacher Conferences – Nov. 1&2:  Don’t forget to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences at https://www.schoolbookings.net/.  Our school code is w6vrm.  After this Wednesday, you will no longer be able to sign up your child online using school bookings.

Saturday Serve:

With a strong desire to serve our community and instill a heart for others, HCS is leading an initiative where a ‘Family Service Opportunity’ will be available once a month – named ‘Saturday Serve’.

 Our second opportunity is this Saturday, October 28 at VanTil’s from 9am – 11am/noon. Located at 2635 169th St, Hammond, IN 46323, participants will be meeting at the store, where students will be given a list of items that need to be purchased. Students (and families) will work together to locate and purchase the items and then deliver them to ‘Giving Boxes’ across NWI.

Parents, students, staff, and community members are being invited to help our community shine for Christ! If you are able to participate, please complete the following FORM and meet the HCS team on October 28 at the store! If you can’t attend, we are looking for financial donations to help purchase items from the store. If you’d like to donate, please drop off any/all resources in the office!

HCS has a special opportunity to “Build on the Foundation” by donating biblical and devotion books to Susan Perez’s Harvest Festival.  Mrs. Perez holds an annual Harvest Festival on October 31st where prayers and food are shared and biblical books are given to all those attending.  Mrs. Perez has been sharing God’s goodness and grace for many years and HCS began partnering with her last year.  If you would like to join her in “Building Upon the Foundation” bring your gently used bibles, devotionals and children bible stories to the HCS library until October 30th.

PTO NEWS

Save the Date!! Our first restaurant night of the year is on Thursday, November 2nd from 3-8 pm at Culver’s in Highland. Simply mention Highland Christian when ordering and Culver’s will donate 20% of the order to Highland Christian PTO. Thank you for your continued support of PTO!

The first Family Fun night of the year is on Friday November 10th from 6:30-8 pm for 3rd-5th grade students and their families. This will be a fun night of bingo, popcorn, and prizes! More information will be coming home soon!

TRIP orders due this week Thurs., Oct. 26^th.  TRIP will be accepting physical gift card orders on Nov. 2, 9, 16 (no orders due week of Thanksgiving), 30, Dec. 7 and 14.

Team B (Amy Jellema, Karen Christoffels, Jamie Paul, Olivia Ridder) will be putting the TRIP orders together on Tues., Oct. 24th. Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office on Tues. by 2:45 p.m.

COMMUNITY NEWS

New Life CRC (3010 Ridge Road, Highland, IN) will be hosting Trunk or Treat on Tuesday, October 31, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the church parking lot.  We will have decorated cars with trunks of candy & treats along with a refreshment table!  Don’t forget to wear your costumes!  Please contact (219) 838-0506 for more information.  We hope to see you there!
