Generosity in Action at HCS – Community Impact
Hooray! Last Spring you helped us finish the funding! This Spring, we’re pleased to report that the work is complete! Highland Christian School has a new, fully functioning Public Address System! Overhead announcements can now be sent efficiently by ALL, from any location in the building, and heard in ALL spaces inside and outside our building. THANK YOU for pushing this project across the finish line with the gifts you so generously gave during Raise the Paddle at our 2025 Auction Event!
The State approved our Grant application in September and Access Master started work over Fall Break. They laid preliminary wiring to each classroom for the new equipment that would eventually replace our old analog speakers and paging system. Utilizing the infrastructure of controllers and network switches, our vendor installed new Cat6 data cabling to new digital speakers. Over many months of after-hours work, a new digital paging system was installed throughout the building. Thank you, Access Master!
Once the telephone and paging systems were both digital, the need for a long series of numbers and codes to page a classroom were eliminated. As a result, Teachers & Staff are now able to use three digit extensions to connect individual classrooms, building specific zones (Jr. High or Preschool only, for example), or other locations that have been historically hard to reach (Gym, Stage, etc.) Additionally, new dual sided display speakers were mounted in the main hallways to display the time and other important announcements.
We are incredibly grateful for our generous donors who helped make the building wide project a reality! This project came in under budget and was fully funded through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Secured School Safety Grant and the matching funds you gave.
