ACCREDITATION COMMENDATIONS

This fall Highland Christian School welcomed six members from CSI (Christian Schools International) for our five-year accreditation site visit.  After recommending a five-year accreditation credential, the team provided a list of eleven exemplary traits of Highland Christian School.  Over the next three months we will be highlighting one of these traits each week. This week’s trait is:

HCS has been intentional to integrate their mission into programs through the adoption of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

SCHOOL NEWS

Reminder:  This Wednesday, Oct. 5 is a late start day.  School will begin at 10:00.

The HCS community has a “Blessings Opportunity”.  A friend in our Christian Community, Susan Perez, celebrates a Harvest Festival in her front yard each year on October 31st.  Instead of giving out candy, her family roasts hot dogs, gives away Christian books and prays for anyone who makes a request.  This is a big endeavor for her each year.  This year our school community can “Be a Blessing” to her as she blesses her neighborhood by donating books.  Last year she gave away about 400 and ran out before the evening was done.  She requests only Christian books (Christian stories, Bibles and Devotionals for all ages).  If you would like to Be a Blessing through this event, please bring your “no longer needed” books to the library any time in October. 

Thursdays are snack days at HCS! The 8th grade class is selling snacks to reduce costs for their 8th grade trip to Philadelphia this year. Snacks include pop and different kinds of chips, cookies, popcorn, etc. and sell for $1.00.  How can you help?  Any donation of single serve snacks or pop or gatorade type drinks would be welcome. Thank you for your support of this fundraiser!

PTO NEWS

Today (Oct 3) is Janitor Appreciation Day! Let’s all take a minute to say thank you to our janitors for all the hard work they do around the school. 

Thank you students and teachers for all your hard work in the Pastor’s Appreciation Chapel. 

Mark your calendars, the next restaurant night will be Oct 19 at Chipotle. More info will be coming home soon. Thank you to everyone who participated and made our restaurant night at Pizzeria Uno’s a success!

Mattress Sale is Saturday Oct 15 from 10am-5pm!  Please spread the word with family, friends, and neighbors! This not only includes mattresses, but also mattress toppers, pillows, and sheets. Remember to mention your referral’s name when ordering the mattress. Out of towners can participate too, as the mattresses can be shipped anywhere in the US.

RaiseRight Bonus Fest begins Oct. 7through Oct. 30 for all of our online participants.  Extra bonus rebates will be advertised every Friday through Sunday of each weekend.  Are you signed up for the scrip online ordering program?  If not or if you have any questions, contact Ann Lynch at [email protected] for more information.

Team D (Shelly Witham, Becca Trepton, Sherry Hiatt, Mary Brinks) will be putting the TRIP orders together on Tues., Oct. 4th. Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office on Tuesday by 2:45 p.m.
