ACCREDITATION COMMENDATIONS

This fall Highland Christian School welcomed six members from CSI (Christian Schools International) for our five-year accreditation site visit.  After recommending a five-year accreditation credential, the team provided a list of eleven exemplary traits of Highland Christian School.  Over the next three months we will be highlighting one of these traits each week. This week’s trait is:

Standards-based grading has been embraced by staff and Board with developing buy-in from parents and students.

SCHOOL NEWS

Important Reminder:  This Wed., Oct. 19 is a 1:45 dismissal and there is no school, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20 & 21.

The Parent Performance of the Grandparents’ Day Program in this evening beginning at 6:30 p.m.  K-5 students should be in their classroom by 6:10.

Parent/Teacher Conferences – Nov. 2&3:  This year, we are again using Schoolbookings.net to let parents sign-up for the conference slot they would prefer. Like last year, 3rd-8th grade conferences will be student led. Pre-K – 2nd grade conferences will just be with the parents. You may sign up for conferences at https://www.schoolbookings.net/code/u9s27.   Our school code is u9s27.

Open this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jqSf8L9vRmnX11WJ7V-K7DSVl2WI7wG5/view?usp=sharing  to watch a short tutorial of how to sign up for a conference slot and be directed to the website. This process is very straightforward and will help simplify this process for the office and give more options to families.

Blessings Through Books Opportunity:  4 boxes of books were delivered to Susan Perez on Friday – she is so grateful for every one of them.  The school will continue to collect books until October 31st.  This blessing could use a few more children’s books – a lot of adult books have been donated – which is great! – but we could use some more children’s books.  What a great way to bless the community by sharing stories about God’s Kingdom.

LIBRARY NEWS

Library Century Club:  The first member of the 2022-23 Reading Century Club is Giselle R.  She has read over 100 books (5,000 pages) since August.  The library is so excited to induct her into the club.  Anyone who would like to become a member of this prestigious club just needs to keep track of all the books they are reading, and when you’ve reached 100 books (100 picture books or 5,000 pages of chapter books) hand your sheet into the library and become a member!  Happy Reading!
