SCHOOL NEWS

Reminder:  There is no school next Monday, Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day.

Homemade vanilla is available in the office for all your baking needs.  Vanilla sells for $2.00 for an 8oz. bottle.

Ladies Prayer Group meets every Friday at 8:30 am. We will meet in the prayer garden at HCS while the weather is nice. All ladies and unschooled children are welcome. Please leave prayer requests with the office or call/text Taliaha Koutz 219-730-8931.

LIBRARY NEWS

It is wonderful to have all the students checking books from the library and continuing to build up their reading skills.  If there are summer reading challenge logs that still need to be turned in – now is the time to do it.  All Summer Reading Challenges need to be turned in before September 6. Thank You

PTO NEWS

Save the Date: Donuts for Dudes will take place on September 14th. More information will be coming soon. *special note: Muffins for Misses has been moved to Spring.

TRIP NEWS

Volunteers are needed to help stuff TRIP gift card orders once a month on a Tuesday morning.  If you are interested in volunteering your time contact Ann Lynch at [email protected] and 219-838-0356, ext. 199. 

The black mailbox for TRIP orders is in a new location just outside the school office door.  

Just a reminder to TRIP parents and family members – If you want your TRIP order to go home with your child in grades kindergarten through 8th you need to fill out a new TRIP registration form to give permission for this.  You can find a current TRIP Registration form up on the Highland Christian School website or pick up a copy in the school office.

TRIP orders are due this week (paper and online) on Thurs., Sept. 1st by 10 a.m.  The TRIP program will be accepting physical gift card orders on Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13.  

Team C (April Vander Meyden, Janell Eriks, Jamie Vander Meyden) will be putting the TRIP orders on Tuesday Aug. 30th.  Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office on Tuesday by 2:45 p.m.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Faith Church Midweek Childcare Needed: We are in need of High School Students and Men or Women who are willing to snuggle babies, play and love on kids during the week for our Midweek Ministries.  We have needs at our Cedar Lake, Dyer, Beecher and Highland Campus in the morning and at night.  If this is something you would be interested in, please email Trish at [email protected] for more information! 

Everyone is invited to an awesome night of worship coming up in the Northwest Indiana region. AwakenNWI will be happening on September 23rd, starting at 5:00pm at Bulldog Park in Crown Point, Indiana. Join Caleb J. Dutton, the Faith Worship Collective, and Century Worship as we lift high the name of Jesus in our region. Come for a free night of community, food trucks, worship, and positive music. Illiana Christian High School is inviting all middle school students to Illiana soccer games on Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Admission is free and all middle school students will also be given concession tokens.
