HCS Students Excel in Design & Modeling

Students in grades 7 and 8 spent the first quarter of the year learning about the engineering process .  They worked in teams to solve a set problem using a six-step process.  Each student was assigned a specific role on the team.

Once their teams were established, they were presented with a problem and a desired outcome.  Then they applied the process to create a solution.  In this featured unit, students designed an ankle – foot orthosis to prevent children with cerebral palsy from extending their foot while retaining the ability to flex their ankle for walking.
