ACCREDITATION COMMENDATIONS
This fall Highland Christian School welcomed six members from CSI (Christian Schools International) for our five-year accreditation site visit. After recommending a five-year accreditation credential, the team provided a list of eleven exemplary traits of Highland Christian School. Over the next three months we will be highlighting one of these traits each week. This week’s trait is:
Highland Christian School clearly shows its deep commitment to demonstrating Christian community and prioritizing opportunities for students and faculty to live out their faith in worship and service. For example, chapels are created and planned by students, creating ownership, investment, and a sense of sharing in Kingdom work and mission.
SCHOOL NEWS
This Friday, Highland Christian is inviting parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends of the school to a special Ground Breaking Chapel that will start at 8:40am. The chapel will last about an hour and include worship, testimonies, and a special time of prayer. Please be aware that there will be a small component that occurs outside!
As we are two months into the school year, students are at the point where they should be walking into school on their own. Thank you for your partnership, as we develop each child’s level of independence.
Parent/Teacher Conferences – Nov. 2&3: Don’t forget to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences at https://www.schoolbookings.net/. Our school code is u9s27. After this Thursday, you will no longer be able to sign up your child online using school bookings.
Student pictures are being sent home with the students sometime this week. Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 7. If your children need retakes, please send the original pictures back with them on that day. Interstate Studio will not replace the original pictures if they are not returned. If your children were absent on the original picture day, you will need to place your order at https://inter-state.com/FlyerEntry/69587N using order code 69587N.
This Friday, Oct. 28 is HCS Preview Day from 1:30-3:00 p.m. If you know of any family who is interested in learning more about HCS, please have them contact the office to reserve their spot. During this event, they will see classrooms in action, tour our campus and learn more about the exciting journey that awaits their child at Highland Christian School.
On Friday, November 11 from 3:30 to 5:30, HCS will hold its second Building Christian Men event for 7th & 8th boys in the gym. The emphasis of this initiative is to build spirituality and maturity in our young boys. Christian men from various walks of life will give presentations to our boys regarding ethics, spirituality, responsibility, and respect. These presentations will be followed by a time for games and food. Our meal will be some great empanadas from La MexiRican, a catering business run by one of our constituents. There is no cost for this event. Watch for an email.
Blessings Through Books: Thanks for everyone’s participation – we have received a lot of books! This will be the last week to donate books, if you have not gone through your bookshelves yet now is the time to do it! This has been a wonderful response to spread the Word of God throughout Mrs. Perez’s neighborhood.
