ACCREDITATION COMMENDATIONS

This fall Highland Christian School welcomed six members from CSI (Christian Schools International) for our five-year accreditation site visit.  After recommending a five-year accreditation credential, the team provided a list of eleven exemplary traits of Highland Christian School.  Over the next three months we will be highlighting one of these traits each week.

SCHOOL NEWS

HCS Kdg.-8th Picture Day is next Tuesday, Sept. 27.  Like last year, Interstate Studio is requesting that parents order online at https://inter-state.com/FlyerEntry/69586NF .  This event’s Order Code is 69586NF. Online ordering is available before and after Picture Day. Shipping and handling charges may apply to orders placed after Picture Day. If you are not able to order online, order forms are available in the HCS office.

HCS is looking for two volunteers to help on Picture Day.  Interstate Studio offers a $25.00 credit on pictures to those who volunteer on this day.  Help is needed from approximately 8:30 to noon.

Pastors’ Chapel:  Your child took home an invitation last week.  Please pass on these personal invitations to pastors before Friday, September 30.  We would love to see many pastors and leaders worshiping with us.

For the 2022-2023 school year, parents have the opportunity to apply for a Foundation gift. More information can be found in this parent memo, which was distributed in August. Those who would benefit from this support are encouraged to complete the appropriate form by Friday, Sept. 30.

 See You at the Pole is next Wednesday, September 28 at 7:50 am.  Please join us as we lift up our school, students, staff, communities, churches, state, and country in prayer.  The theme for this year is found in Romans 12:11-12 – NEVER LET THE FIRE IN YOUR HEART GO OUT. KEEP IT ALIVE . . . PRAY!

Grandparents’ Day is Friday, October 14, and it’s coming soon!  We are busy planning and preparing for this special day.  There are many opportunities for you to help.  We need volunteers to welcome our guests at the doors and greeting tables, and to guide traffic in the parking lot.  Many hands make light work.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Laurel Reynhout at [email protected]. Thanks in advance for volunteering.

Snack Shack:  Thank you to all of you who donated snack or drinks for the faculty Snack Shack! If you would like to donate something (i.e. small containers of Gatorade, chocolate treats, granola bars), feel free to drop this off in the office. Thank you!

Homemade vanilla is now available in the school office.  Get yours before it sells out!

Ladies Prayer Group meets every Friday at 8:30 a.m. to pray for our country, school and community.  Beginning this Friday, they will be meeting at New Life Church, next to the school.  All ladies are welcome!

Thank you to everyone who came out for Donuts for Dudes! We hope you had a great time! 

 Reminder that the Mattress Sale will take place on 10/15. Emails will be sent weekly regarding this event, so please keep checking your email! Also, if anyone is interested in advertising at your home or business with a yard sign, please send an email to [email protected]. Thank you for all your help in spreading the word! 

 HCS Staff lists of favorite things have been posted online. This is a helpful resource for Christmas gifts, teacher appreciation week, etc.

TRIP NEWS

TRIP orders are due this week (paper and online) on Thurs., Sept. 22nd by 10 a.m. The TRIP program will be accepting physical gift card orders on Sept. 29, Oct. 6, 13, **18, 27.

Team B (Amy Jellema, Olivia Ridder, Jamie Paul, Karen Christoffels) will be putting the TRIP orders on Tues., Sept. 20th.  Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office on Tuesday by 2:45 p.m.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Illiana Christian High School is inviting all middle school students to Illiana soccer games this Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Admission is free and all middle school students will also be given concession tokens.
