FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Over Christmas Break, my family loaded up our white Toyota minivan and made the six-day trek to three different Michigan Christmas parties. Barely being able to close the back hatch, we were thankful to distribute gifts to others, eat our way out of the food we packed, and fortunately not receive too many large gifts that couldn’t fit on the way home. With three young children, we spent time in worship, fellowship, and rest.
One of the topics we talked about with our kids was the purpose of exchanging and giving gifts. While a Nintendo Switch, Pokeman cards, and a new scooter may have been top ‘Wish List Items’, these gifts don’t touch the beauty of God’s gift to us – His son. This led my wife and I to a discussion about our deepest hope for our children… to know their Heavenly Father and love Him dearly.
In reflection, we came to an even greater and deeper appreciation for Highland Christian and our church community. While I reap the daily benefits of working in a Christ-centered institution, I continue to be in awe of how my own child is being molded and guided by so many Godly teachers and staff. The same is true for your children. This is in addition to the countless prayer warriors interceding on behalf of our students and staff daily. As a parent, what more could I ask for?
As we head into the new year, I want to challenge our parents (yes, that’s you) to really dive into your role… . to:
Model His love unconditionally.
Give of your time generously.
Pray for your children fervently.
It’s going to be a great year!
