SCHOOL NEWS

This Wednesday, Jan. 17 is a late start day. School will begin at 10:00.

Our fifth Saturday Serve is Saturday, January 20 from 9 – 11am. We will be meeting at etc…Thrift Store to help advance the store’s mission to provide financial resources to support HCS. Families, staff, grandparents, and community members are being invited to help us serve our community! If you are able to participate, please complete the following form by Thursday, January 18. Congratulations to the Spelling Bee winners!   The sixth grade top spellers were Aidan Brouwer, Seth Hadley, Hallie Sitter, and Shelby Scheeringa. The seventh grade qualifiers were Zoey Adams, Miriam Christoffels, Evan Kuzmar, Carina Miller, and Allyanna Vela. Ian Hadley and Max Van Laten represented the eighth graders. Allyanna Vela emerged as the winner and will be representing HCS at the Regional Competition in February.

Important information regarding bus service – Parents please check your email. An email was sent out regarding bus service – we are adding a new route! In that email there is a link to a form that needs to be filled out by ALL existing bus families AND any family who would like to add bus service for the remainer of the school year. The deadline to have that form submitted is January 17. Thank you.

Being in Christian community is important! Last year, Calvin Christian, Crown Point Christian, Highland Christian, and Lansing Christian came together to host three events for our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. These were all terrific events. As a result, the events will continue this year.

·         February 2 – 7th Grade at Crown Point Christian (5:30pm – 7:30pm)

·         February 9 – 6th Grade at Highland Christian  (5:30pm – 7:30pm)

·         May 10 – 8th Grade at Illiana Christian (6:00pm – 7:00pm)

Please note the times of these events, as parents are responsible for providing transportation for their children. While this may push some students out of their comfort zone, we want to strongly encourage participation. Each night will be filled with activities, food, and comradery. 

PTO NEWS

Go and Glow Party is this Friday from 6:30-8pm for K-2 students and their families. This is a fun night of music and games provided by Operation Get Down DJ! If possible, please wear bright neon colors!!

Our next restaurant night will be on January 26 from 4-8pm at the Munster Panera Bread. More information will be coming home soon. We are so thankful for our families, friends, and community that support HCS PTO!

TRIP NEWS

TRIP orders (paper and online) are due this week Thurs., Jan. 18^th by 10 a.m.  TRIP will be accepting physical gift card orders on Jan. 25, Feb. 8, 15, 22 and 29.  Online ordering is available 24/7.  Contact Ann Lynch at [email protected] for more information.

Team C will be putting the TRIP orders together today. Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office today by 2:45 p.m.
