SCHOOL NEWS

There is no school next Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

Pick-Up Adjustment: Effective today, pick-up will now end at 3:25 – not 3:30. Thank you to the many parents who park and walk to pick-up their childrenTo avoid a long line at drop-off time in the morning, if you are able to park and walk your child to the front door, that would be greatly appreciated.

Support for John Cruse: For the next two weeks, HCS will be collecting cash, checks (can be written to HCS), and gas cards for one of our bus drivers, John Cruse. Earlier this year, John was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. John has not asked for support, but we know there is a great need. With all of his doctors and appointments in Indianapolis, John is putting many miles on the road. The front office will be collecting funds and gas gift cards through Friday, September 8. Thank you for praying and your financial support!

For the 2023-2024 school year, parents have the opportunity to apply for a Foundation gift. More information can be found in this parent memo, which was distributed in August. Those that would benefit from this resource must complete the appropriate form by Friday, September 29, 2023.

Join some awesome moms on Fridays from 2-3pm for some exercise and fellowship.  Contact Amber Powell for more information at [email protected] or text (219)808-3138.

LIBRARY NEWS

From Lake County Public Library: The American Library Association has designated September as National Library Card Sign-Up Month.  Help your child become a lifelong reader by signing your child up for a library card.  Encouraging children to check out library books and reading aloud to your child are two important things you can do as a parent to help your child in school. During the month of September every child who signs up for a library card, or shows their library card to the librarian, will receive a prize.  Your child’s name will also be entered into the drawing for a gift card. Come visit a public library branch and read a book or magazine, use the computer, or borrow audio visual materials (movies, CDs and video games).  Library programming is featured on the website: www.lcplin.org  We look forward to seeing all of you and your families during the month of September and every month after that.
