It’s time to celebrate our amazing students and staff! On the 3rd grade IREAD-3 assessment, Highland Christian obtained the highest pass rate out of any district in Lake County!

Since 1909, Highland Christian has provided a rich academic education and incorporated faith into instruction to ensure students are prepared for the life God has called them to lead. 

In a Professional Learning Community, schools focus on three big ideas: Ensuring Students Learn, Building a Culture of Collaboration, and Focusing on Student Outcomes. Through this targeted approach to learning and instruction, the HCS community has rallied together to see  continued improvements on internal and external assessments. 

Over the past year, Highland Christian has made a number of distinct choices to promote high levels of literacy within the building. These decisions include:

• Hiring Kristin Freel as a Literacy Coach and Reading Specialist
• Providing training to staff in the Science of Reading 
• Selecting curriculum that is rigorous and supports the diverse learner
• Enhancing academic staffing and programs to support emerging learners
• Utilizing data to drive decision making through various in-house assessments
• Providing targeted instruction and tutoring to students in need

As a result of the hard work of our students and staff, Highland Christian is proud to have exceeded Indiana’s goal for our school to exceed a 95% pass rate by 2027. While our individual efforts were sizable, we give all the glory to God!
